Hello Folks!

As the initial work, work, work, of starting MARKINGS GALLERY is winding down, I am also pleased to be back in my own studio. You may wish to attend one or more of the several workshops I offer. See my schedule here.

Also, please come see DANCE OF TWO VISIONS, the current exhibit at the Chocolate Church in Bath through October 2, 2010, featuring my work and that of an artist friend, Susan Mills. Susan and I have been working and living in Maine for 30+ years. Our fiber art pieces involve stitching, felting, painting, building, collaging, and forming to create unique mixed media environments. We are similarly drawn to the use of fiber and related materials in their explorations of the joys and the mysteries that are life.

Even while working in our own home studios, our professional lives have connected over the years at Spindleworks in Brunswick, through Maine Fiberarts and the Maine Crafts Association, and in various workshop situations. Teaching and sharing seems to be an integral part of the work of both our artistic endeavors.

You can look for the similarities, the differences and the connections in our respective expressive styles as our works share the intimate space of the Chocolate Church gallery.

Words and ideas that describe the works in the exhibit include prayer, spirals of life, synchronicity, life force, portals, openings, arches, embrasure, seeking, and spiritual exploration. Our works are at once exuberant and reverent: celebrations of life.

While you are in Bath, be sure to visit MARKINGS GALLERY, 50 Front Street. My partners and I are very excited about our “baby” and are looking forward to having lots of visitors. My partners are Nan Kilbourn-Tara, Judith Barker, Monty Smith, and Nanne Kennedy. Nan and Monty are two very well known and established potters and both of them are working on new and exciting processes. Judith is an accomplished metalsmith. Her jewelry is a beautiful mix of silver and gold with gems for highlights. And Nanne is a farmer and designer. She raises sheep and shears them, then spins and dyes the wool (with sea water). She has many people who work in their homes to machine knit and weave the sweaters and blankets she designs.

Markings is also offering the work of several additional Maine artists, including items in wood, fiber, glass, painting, clothing, encaustic, prints, and much more! Please come in to visit us.

P.S. I still have one loom FOR SALE.
